Food vans in the village this week

It is the last week before Christmas and also the last week of food van service at the Haslingfield village hall for 2021.  Many thanks to all the food vans that have filled bellies and put smiles on the faces of the Haslingfield, Harlton and surrounding villages in 2021!  Thank you to the many locals who have visited and enjoyed the food van services.  You’ve made it worthwhile for the vans to continue to visit us.  We look forward to more in 2022!  At the Haslingfield village hall this week (5-8pm):  Thursday (16/12): Kerief Katering.  Caribbean fusion inspirations.  Pre-order or walkups.  Friday (17/12): La Biga. Pizza delight!  Pre-order or walkups.  Saturday (18/12): Apple & Jalapeño with their winter warming cajun-creole menu!  Pre-order or walkups.

Green bin collection

South Cambridgeshire District Council has informed us that green bin collections are being suspended from Monday (13 December) because of the number of drivers and loaders absent – particularly with Coronavirus or self-isolating.  Key points to note are:

  • Green bin collections are planned to resume on Wednesday 12 January 2022 in line with the previously published Christmas schedule.
  • Crews are working hard to complete green bin rounds that are scheduled for the rest of this week. The message for the rest of this week is to put your green bin out as normal. If it is not collected on your usual collection day, leave it out, and it will be emptied by the afternoon of Tuesday 14 December.

Food vans in the village this week

Happy Monday all.  It seems Winter is going to come early and hit us by this weekend.  Food van alert: There WILL NOT BE ANY FOOD VANS this week at the Haslingfield Village Hall.  (This is due to a sold out theatre/pantomime event at the Village Hall.)  Fear not, however – there are tasty and heart warming curries available from Pop and Bharti for dine-in (at the Mohak Cafe) or take away (from the village shop).  More details on what curries this week will come.  And speaking of dine in options, there’s the Little Rose pub or the Harlton Hare n Hounds pub and La Pergola also if you’ve not tried before.

Six Free Trees for the village

The parish council are participating in the Six Free Trees scheme run by South Cambs District Council. The six trees will be delivered on the 6 December and we wanted to let you know the plans for the planting of these trees around the village.  Click six free trees for more information.
