Transport to medical appointments and other essential visits: The Haslingfield and Harlton Community Car Scheme
If you need to get to a medical or other essential appointment but don’t have any means of transport, please ask the Haslingfield and Harlton Community Car Scheme for help.
Simply call 07800 883634 at least 2 working days before the appointment and leave a message – the Coordinator checks phone messages regularly. Requests are circulated to drivers by email and the Coordinator will call you back when a volunteer driver has been assigned. Drivers will normally wait for an hour, but for a longer appointment two drivers may be needed.
The charge is 30p/mile, paid to the driver on the day. We have a standard charge list for common destinations which you will get when you first use the Scheme.
If you have any questions about the Scheme, please call 07800 883634 to talk to the Coordinator.
Can you drive? Would you like to become a volunteer driver for the Scheme?
The Scheme depends entirely on volunteers who are willing to give a little time to take fellow villagers to appointments they cannot otherwise get to. As a volunteer driver you are completely in control of how much -or little- you wish to do. Details of requested drives are emailed to all our drivers and you respond only if you wish to volunteer to do one or more drives on the list. Drivers receive compensation for fuel used from the passenger on the day and an additional 15p/mile claimed from the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority.
We need more volunteer drivers in both Haslingfield and Harlton. If you would like further information, please email the Coordinator at: haslingfieldharltoncarscheme@gmail.com
