Food vans in the village this week

Moody skies greet us today. But fear not, the Jubilee bank holiday weekend is almost here with some super special food vans scheduled!  Food van list this week at the Haslingfield Village hall:  Thursday (2/5): not operating.  Friday (3/5): labiga_mobile pizza for our Friday night special.  Saturday (4/5): By special decree (from Her Majesty?) we have THREE food vans for the Rock on the Rec event, serving your appetites even if live music in the great outdoors is not your thing! The three are: Pimp My Fish UK, Buffalo Joe’s and Bon.Crepe&Coffee.  All 3 vans have meat free options, and children’s meals also available. But wait, there’s more! There will also be beer on offer from the Harlton Hare and Hounds on the Rec!
Remember: The Haslingfield Village Hall carpark is closed on Saturday June 4th from 4pm except for blue badge holders.
Enjoy the Jubilee safely and deliciously!

Public Consultation: Combined Authority update: Local Transport and Connectivity Plan

The Cambridgeshire and Combined Authority has launched a public consultation on a developing plan for better transport in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.  The Local Transport and Connectivity Plan (LTCP) will set the strategy for the future of travel in the region.  A 12-week public consultation on the draft LTCP runs until the end of the day on August 4.

The public can take part via the website, www.yourltcp.co.uk or via in-person drop-in events. Two events are in South Cambridgeshire – at Cambourne Church Centre on June 25, from 2pm to 7pm, and Sawston, Spicers Pavilion, on July 14, again from 2pm to 7pm.  People can also pick up hard copies of the consultation materials, either at pick up points or by calling the LTCP team.  If preferred, consultation feedback can be submitted by email to contact@yourltcp.co.uk.

Cambridge Approaches – East West Rail Co. update

Please see the update below from William Harrold of Cambridge Approaches regarding East West Rail Co.

———————————————————————————————————————————————

According to letters from the Department of Transport to the local conservative MPs Anthony Browne and Richard Fuller in Bedfordshire, the new Rail Minister is reviewing the business case for the EWR between Bletchley and Cambridge.  They expect to report on their findings in June.  These MPs are setting the expectation that the railway will be cancelled; this is based on information that they have not disclosed, but Anthony Browne has also met Grant Shapps.  Their interaction with the rail minister has been facilitated by the activities of Cambridge Approaches and BFARe (which is an acronym for Bedford for a Re Consultation).

Meanwhile the rail minister and EWR Co. are indicating that the project is full steam ahead.  EWR Co. are arranging a series of public meetings starting in Bedford and working towards Cambridge.  They do not expect new information to be released at these meetings.  A recent strategy report issued by Network Rail in March assessed how well the railway performs against the road network at peak times.
