Sunday, June 16th 10.30 am: Short, guided walk to this historic and rare chalk grassland. A County Wildlife Site, it is one of only two sites in the area with records of Man Orchids. Led by Parish Councillor Clive Blower, who has volunteered with the Wildlife Trust over a number of years to look after this site. You’ll also see bee orchids, twayblades, and common spotted orchids, as well as other chalk grassland wildflowers, and hear about the history of the area and how it relates to some of the University of Cambridge Colleges. Haslingfield’s very first Repair Café on February 18th at the Village Hall was a great success and got us featured on the front page of the Cambridgeshire Repair Cafe Network newsletter. We had a go at repairing 48 items – from a toy drone to an electric piano keyboard, from a broken bracelet to two shirts with frayed collars. Read more
