This band of positive villagers has continued to work on the Well-house Meadow. We have secured all 20 fruit trees with rabbit guards, stakes and membranes to prevent weeds. In the autumn we hope to have a permanent sign made so that villagers can identify all the trees, and maybe a new seat. Meanwhile we have spent 4 sessions cutting the ivy on the Tudor wall, and you can now see our beautiful and historic wall in all its glory.Read more
Watch the England Rugby team on the Big Screen at the Little Rose pub and enjoy cheap beer! England will become only the sixth team in 107 years to complete back-to-back Grand Slams, if they beat Ireland in Dublin in Saturday’s (18th March) final rugby union Six Nations match. England can also set a new top-tier record with their 19th successive Test win. Watch all the action on the big screen in the village’s last pub when the big game kick’s off at 5pm with 50p off every pint.
The Haslingfield Allotment Gardeners Association (HAGA) is having some vacant plots on the site between Haslingfield and Harston, so if you have “green fingers” and want to grow your own produce or just want to know more then please contact the secretary Jon Spain by email jrspain1@hotmail.com or telephone 01763 262007. Annual rent for a full size plot is £15 and it is open to Haslingfield residents and residents of surrounding villages. We have both full size and half size plots available.

You will be pleased to know that the Nave Roof has finally been completed. After a much delayed start, with problems of all descriptions, we now have a beautiful new Cumbrian slate roof. The slates vary in length up the slope and also in width. As the tiler said, ‘It is like playing chess to lay a roof like this’. But to see the completed roof is to see a work of art, which is a real joy, and of which we can all be very proud. It also means of course that All Saints’ remains open as a place of worship and peace for the whole of the village community for years to come, and we can remain dry while using it!
The next pop up coffee shop at the Methodist Church is this Tuesday 14th March 8:45- 11:30am. Come & enjoy cakes, croissants, filter coffee & tea (fair trade of course) and help raise funds for charity. This marks the 1 year anniversary of the pop up coffee shop- thank you for helping to raise over £1500 for local & international charities.
Sunday the 12th March is our next environment working Party. I will be there from 1.30.
Last time we dug in 4 new fruit trees and completed putting in stakes and weed suppressant mats around the trees. Yesterday they were all looking good. I hope to see as many of you as can make it on Sunday; we aim to complete the careful removal of Ivy from the Tudor wall so that we can move on to other sites in the village. Read more
Stagecoach has started a consultation to look at improving the local bus timetables. This mainly affects route 26 from Cambridge to Royston whereby this would stop at Trumpington P&R and would give an hourly service between Cambridge and Royston. The MAIN PROBLEM with this is that they will STOP ROUTE 27 from Guilden Morden to Cambridge which runs through Haslingfield. If you feel that this service 27 through Haslingfield should be maintained then please reply to the consultation here before 19th March 2017, Email: cambridge.enquiries@stagecoachbus.com or write to: Stagecoach, 100 Cowley Road, Cambridge, CB4 0DN !
