More Goode in the village

Eliza’s great-uncle, Reuben, married into a prosperous local farming family in 1814, when he took the hand of Phoebe Willmott. Tragically, all their four children died – Thomas died of tuberculosis in 1826, Elizabeth of the same disease in the following year, and Reuben junior and Daniel similarly in 1828. In 1831 Reuben senior died, also of TB, leaving Phoebe desolate and without a family. Read more

Latest Tennis Club News

The Tennis Club’s next tournament is the Mixed Doubles this Sunday 30th June.  If you’d like to take part, please come along to the courts shortly before 10:30am and partnerships will be formed by drawing names from a hat on the day.
Also, Congratulations to Gail Rutherford and Babs Hillas who won the Ladies Doubles Tournament last weekend!

Sheds & Greenhouses Allowed on the Allotments

The Parish Council has agreed that one shed OR greenhouse could be erected on a garden plot. Max dimensions of either to be a 6 x 4 feet base, which must be of temporary material. Explosion heard over Haslingfield this morning

I (along with a load of other people no doubt) heard a really loud explosion followed by jet plane noises in the sky this morning. I looked at my watch and it said 11.33 am. I guessed the explosion might be related to the jet plane. I just checked on the internet and found this explanation. Looks like we are still living in the 9-11 era.
