For those of you that have not tried it there is a fun “geocaching” route called the Haslingfield Hunt. If don’t know what geocaching is follow this link for an explanation. It has been there since 2007, but we successfully completed it a couple of weeks ago. We heard about it from friends and thought it would be an idea to advertise it on the site so more local people know about it. You need a hand held GPS, a note pad and paper and to be able to walk about a mile or so on good paths. All the stages are quite close to each other so if your calculation takes you a hundred miles away you must have got the numbers wrong! This summer, Cambridge Open Studios will take place on the first four weekends of July. Haslingfield has one artist exhibiting this year – Terry Baker. Her studio and garden will be open from 11.00 a.m. until 6.00 p.m. on the weekends 16/17 July and 23/24 July. She will be showing many of the mosaic pieces she has made over the past 12 years, including the table-top map of Haslingfield that you can see on the masthead of this website. Read more

Petersfield schools holiday club (Puffins) is running a holiday scheme on Tuesday 31st May to Thursday 2nd June of half term for children over the age of 3. Puffins is run by highly qualified and experienced staff. Facilities are based within Petersfield school (Orwell) and include access to school playing field, fully equipped kitchen, numerous toys and equipment. Read more
In March, the annual South Cambridgeshire Arts Awards took place. Haslingfield Little Theatre won the award forContribution to Village Life for our plays, social events, Young Little Theatre, Youth Fund and Arts on Tour in Cambs, as well as our fund-raising several years ago for the Village Hall extension, which continues to be an extremely useful village facility. Crime
Total crime in Haslingfield has decreased from 15 offences in the previous period to 9 offences in this period. Offence levels have remained stable compared to the same period last year (8 offences).
Two of the offences in this period have been detected.

Cambridgeshire County Council’s Trading Standards Service and Cambridgeshire Police have been receiving reports from concerned residents who have been called out of the blue by a security companies offering them an alarm system for their home. In some cases the sales person has refused to give company details, or have given a telephone number which is just an answerphone. Claims made by the salesmen suggest they are connected to the Police Service which is untrue. Read more
