This Whitsun Bank Holiday Monday, 30th May, the Village Shop is open Sunday Opening Hours, namely 8am to 4pm. The Post Office will be closed. The shop and post office reopen after major refurbishment this Friday 27th May. The opening times for the rest of the weekend are as normal, namely:-
Saturday: 8.00 am – 6.00 pm
Sunday: 8.00 am – 4.00 pm
With the post office open as usual on Saturday 9am – 12.30pm and closed on Sunday.
Tuesday 24 May, 8.00 pm. After a short AGM there will be a humorous entertainment. Hilary Stokes and John Beresford , with Cheryl as intermediary, will present “Don’ts for Husbands and Wives”, based on Blanche Ebbutt’s books written in 1913. All you’ll want to know about what to avoid in a marriage (or maybe NOT)!
All are welcome: free to members, £2.50 for visitors. Annual subscriptions become due at this meeting £8.50 for singles and £12.50 for families.
This Thursday, 19th May, sees a special Beauty Product and Magic event at the Little Rose Pub in the village. Jamie Segrave and his team will be offering everyone the chance to experience some of their beauty products and his unique style of magic. The event runs from 7.30pm until 10pm and you can just turn up on the night.
The Village Shop & Post Office in Haslingfield will be closed for refurbishment on Wednesday 25th and Thursday 26th May. It will re-open as usual on Friday 27th May. If you need to use a post office during this time, the nearest one is in Harston at 28 High Street, Harston CB22 7PX which is open from 9am – 5.30pm on both days and offers the same range of Post Office Services. Customers will still be able to collect benefits in cash from there.
Only six nominations were submitted for Parish Councillors in Haslingfield for the elections scheduled for 5th May 2016. Thus all those nominated were declared elected unopposed and will assume their duties from 9th May 2016.
The Parish Council is looking to invite expressions of interest from residents who might wish to be considered to serve in the vacancies on the Parish Council. Selection will be by an initial screening and then by interview by the council of screened volunteers before deciding on any co-option and the council reserves the right not to co-opt any or all applicants. The next Little Rose Pub Quiz will take place this Friday 6th May. Teams of any number up to a maximum of six can take part, entry is £10 per team with all the entry fees given out as cash prizes. First Question asked at 8pm. Just turn up on the night or book in advance. The quiz takes place on the first Friday of every month. We always have a good number of teams taking part each month.

There will also be three real ciders on offer. The pub is open for the beer festival from 1pm until 10.30pm on Thursday and Friday and from 1pm until 11pm on Saturday with food available all day. There’ll also be free live music from 8pm on Friday by the Remenants and also from 8pm on Saturday by the Melody Beats.
