Road closure – 11 April to 14 April 2023

You may already be aware of the road closure in the village.  The details are as follows:

NOTICE is given that Cambridgeshire County Council has made an Order pursuant to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Church Street, Harston as lies between numbers 1 and 21.  Access will be maintained to properties affected by this order.

The alternative route for vehicles is via Church Street – Haslingfield Road, Haslingfield – Harston Road – High Street – Church Street – Chapel Hill – Chapel Hill, Barrington – Haslingfield Road – Challis Green – Foxton Road, Barrington Road – A10 – Church Street and vice versa.
The Order is made to facilitate electrical connection and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 11 April 2023 and continue until these works have finished or on the 10 October 2024 whichever is the earlier.
It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 11 April and 14 April 2023.

Great British Spring Clean – 2 April 2023

The Great British Spring Clean is back – Sunday 2nd April

To enable as many of you to take part as possible, it will be split into two sessions:

10:00am to 12 noon and

2:00pm to 4:00pm

  • Bin-bags and long-reach litter pickers provided
  • Along with litter picking, we are hoping to get volunteers to carefully clean the Badcock Memorial Stone and the playground equipment. Other ideas that need attention are very welcome.
  • Just come along to the Recreation side of the Village Hall
  • Accompanied children are especially welcome

We look forward to seeing you, even if it’s just for half an hour.

Cleaner required at Haslingfield Village Hall

A cleaner is required at Haslingfield Village Hall.

Job Description:

Cleaner required for up to 6 hours per week @ £11.00/hour, hours to be spread out over several days in the week, including some weekends.

We are looking for self-employed (ideally) individuals with experience of vacuuming, brushing, mopping, polishing, cleaning toilets and washrooms, etc.  You will be flexible with a good eye for detail with very high standards and expectations; a person who takes pride in their work.  We would consider job share. Closure of M11, junctions 11-12 northbound, 27 Feb – 1 Mar 2023

Please note that National Highways will be carrying out essential maintenance work to the drainage on the M11 northbound carriageway between junctions 11 and 12. Once complete, the road will be able to better disperse surface water.

Work will take place over 3 nights between Monday 27 February and Wednesday 1March, working between 9pm and 5am, weather permitting.

Friday (10/2): La Biga the sourdough pizza queens. Each tasty pizza takes 2-3 minutes to cook so walk up to order!
Saturday (11/2): The Wandering Yak the meat-free North African flavour kings.  Walk ups or pre order.
