The Mower Man – Passing of an Era

Many of John Baker’s “loyal and entertaining customers” took up his invitation to a pie and a pint at River Lane on Saturday 11 August to celebrate his over 50 year’s service to the village, and well beyond.  Some were even observed to have more than one pint, while staying for the pasties (specially imported fresh from the West Country!) was well worth it.

Those not keen on mending their own garden machinery need have no fear – John will be reincarnated at new premises at Foxcotte Farm, Comberton Road, Barton, CB237BA, from early September, where the same mix of engineering skills and philosophical discussion will continue to be available.

Cambridge Greenways Consultation

We want to hear your views on two proposed Greenways in Barton and Haslingfield. These two schemes will provide attractive routes from Barton and Haslingfield into the city. Enabling sustainable travel for cyclists, walkers and where possible equestrians.

We would like your input to help in creating a community-led scheme that local residents can be proud of and use frequently. You still have a couple of days to respond but all responses must be submitted by 20th August.
