Bake House Openings this Summer

Summertime and the Haslingfield Wellhouse Meadow is a lovely place to visit.  It is available to enjoy for all, including dogs, and a safe place for children. Why not come when the Bake House on the meadow is open with a display of the large photo archive of the village available to view?  The Village Society is there from 10 AM until 12 Noon on these dates: Saturdays – 13 May, 8 July, 12 August, 9 September.   

TICKETS ON SALE: Haslingfield Little Theatre’s next Hilarious Production

Tickets are now available for Haslingfield Little Theatre next production – two hilarious one-act plays, Black Comedy by Peter Shaffer and Bride before a Fall by Robert Scott.

The next monthly Little Rose Pub Quiz will take place on Bank Holiday Monday 1st May as part of the pub’s Beer Festival. Usually the quiz takes place on the last Friday of every month. Teams of any number up to a maximum of six can take part, entry is £10 per team with all the entry fees given out as cash prizes. First Question asked at 8pm. Just turn up on the night or book in advance. We can also make up teams from whoever turns up on the night. The quiz now takes place on the last Friday of every month so the next quiz will be on Friday 26th May. It’s great fun with a good number of all local teams taking part. There’s 6 rounds covering many topics including a picture round. The quiz finishes around 10pm with a break halfway through.

Poetry Evening with Haslingfield Little Theatre

Haslingfield Little Theatre are planning an informal evening of Poetry Reading on Friday 28 April at 7.30 pm in Haslingfield Village Hall. Tables will be laid in café style, nibbles will be provided and please bring your own drinks. There will be a small charge of £1 at the door to cover the cost of hiring the Hall. Everyone is invited to join us to listen to readings of a varied section of poetry.

Next Village Society Talk

The Gurkha Welfare Trust is the leading Gurkha charity.  The Trust aims to provide welfare to enable Gurkha ex-servicemen, their dependents and their communities to live with dignity, primarily in Nepal but increasingly in the UK and elsewhere.  The welfare includes developmental, medical, financial and advisory aspects of life.

Speaker, Mike Thorp of Haslingfield,  served with the Gurkha for over 12 years in the Far East, Cyprus and the UK, and is a founder member of the Gurkha Army Service Corps.  The talk will be given in  Haslingfield Village Hall on Tuesday, 18th April at 8:00PM, .  Everyone is very welcome.  Members and 16 and under free.  Visitors £2.50 .

The best way to start the day is on an egg, according to some! This weekend, on Easter Sunday, a full breakfast is available from 8am until 9.15am at the Methodist Church with an Easter Egg Hunt starting at 9am. All the money raised will go to the East Africa Crisis Appeal.

Easter Sunday 16th April sees the annual free Easter Egg Hunt at the Little Rose Pub. Just turn up on the day in plenty of time for the 3pm start at the pub. Open to all the village’s little people.

The next Pop Up Coffee shop is this Tuesday 11th April, 8:45 – 11:30am, in aid of The Feeding Project, Vellore India.

This is run by a charity that works with the poorest people in India.  It offers hot food to elders, who would otherwise go hungry.

The Pop Up Shop takes place at the Methodist Church from 8:45- 11:30am.  Come & enjoy cakes, croissants, filter coffee & tea (fair trade of course) and help raise funds for The Feeding Project, Vellore.

Watch England Rugby on the Big Screen

Watch the England Rugby team on the Big Screen at the Little Rose pub and enjoy cheap beer! England will become only the sixth team in 107 years to complete back-to-back Grand Slams, if they beat Ireland in Dublin in Saturday’s (18th March) final rugby union Six Nations match. England can also set a new top-tier record with their 19th successive Test win. Watch all the action on the big screen in the village’s last pub when the big game kick’s off at 5pm with 50p off every pint.

The next pop up coffee shop at the Methodist Church is this Tuesday 14th March 8:45- 11:30am.  Come & enjoy cakes, croissants, filter coffee & tea (fair trade of course) and help raise funds for charity.  This marks the 1 year anniversary of the pop up coffee shop- thank you for helping to raise over £1500 for local & international charities.
