There is free live music this Bank Holiday Saturday 27th August at the Little Rose Pub. Jonny will be singing a range of classic covers from 8pm until late. It’s a great way to enjoy the holiday weekend.
The pub sells a wide range of drinks including real ales, real cider, teas, coffees, lager, spirits and soft drinks. The pub won the Campaign for Real Ale Cambridge and District Branch award for Rural Community Pub of the Year last year. Read more
From September, Haslingfield children’s art workshop is changing. I have been running the regular art workshop on a Thursday after school for eight years and now feel it is time for a change. In that time many children have made some wonderful crafts and I have really enjoyed being part of their creativity. I will still be organising workshops in the school holidays throughout the year so I will not be finishing completely. Alas, the Hare and Hounds pub is to close shortly after many years serving both Harlton and Haslingfield. Here is a message from Sue.
Do YOU want to make a real difference and get involved in the important issues in the village such as environment, playground and skatepark, speeding on Barton road, parking near the school, buildings and planning regulation then become a Haslingfield Parish Councillor.
The Haslingfield Parish Council meets on the second Monday of each month in the Village Hall. If you are interested in becoming involved with running the parish and contributing to decision making which affects your village please contact the Parish Clerk, Frances Laville on 01223 264360 or email: haslingfieldparishclerk@gmail.com or attend one of the monthly meetings and get a feeling as to what is involved.
With little time spent you can make a real difference and make your village a better place to live and work!

Little Rose Pub
The next Little Rose Pub Quiz will take place this Friday 5th August. Teams of any number up to a maximum of six can take part, entry is £10 per team with all the entry fees given out as cash prizes. First Question asked at 8pm. Just turn up on the night or book in advance. The quiz takes place on the first Friday of every month. It’s great fun with a good number of all local teams taking part each month. There’s 6 rounds including a picture round and it finishes around 10pm with a break halfway through.
Cambridge District Art Circle, who meet regularly at Haslingfield Village Hall, are holding their Summer Exhibition on Saturday 27th to Monday 29th August 2016, 10.00am – 5.30pm at Grantchester Village Hall, High Street, Grantchester, Cambridge, CB3 9NF.
The Exhibition will have both framed and unframed work, as well as cards. Visitors will be able to purchase refreshments and delicious home-made cakes (including gluten-free). This is an ideal opportunity for visitors to buy original art from local professional and amateur artists, in a variety of subjects and media including oils, acrylics, watercolours, mixed media and pastels. A public consultation has been launched to gather views on a proposed Cambridgeshire and Peterborough devolution deal. The formal consultation follows all the Councils in the area agreeing to sign up to launching a consultation. The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough deal follows initial proposals by Government for a deal covering the whole of East Anglia.

The Little Rose Pub is hosting a special and Caribbean Night including a special Bar-B-Q with themed food on Saturday 16th July. Entry is free and there’ll also be special Caribbean Music and a prize of a bottle of Vodka for the person who turns up in the best Caribbean outfit. The evening starts at 8pm.
Ahead of the Flying Legends Air Show on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 July, IWM Duxford has released some important safety information that it wishes to share with local residents:
• IWM Duxford takes great care to ensure that its air shows are as safe as possible for everyone involved.
• It is not safe to occupy the fields immediately south of the runway during the air show. If you do so you are putting yourself and the display pilots in harm’s way.
• In support of this, Grange Road will be closed on 9 and 10 July 2016.
• In the event of an incident it is imperative that the emergency services have clear, unhindered access to the tracks across this land.
• There is no public access to these fields at any time.
• Tickets must be bought in advance, no on the day sales are available.
