The HVS 26th August opening of the Bakehouse on the Wellhouse Meadow turned out to be a glorious day; this was in sharp contrast the early August opening when we expected Noah to come by in his Ark. About 40 visitors, including families, were welcomed. Talks on the history of the meadow and of the bakehouse were given. Read more
Under Threat but Being Saved: The work of the Shepreth Hedgehog Hospital
The ‘common’ hedgehog is under threat from human caused changes to their natural habitat. The Hedgehog Hospital at Shepreth treats and rehabilitates hedgehogs before release back into the wild. Their second aim is to educate people about hedgehog conservation and show how easy it is to help hedgehogs in the local environment. Read more
We are looking for an actor to play a key role in our panto, Treasure Island on 23, 24 & 25 November: Jim (the Cabin Boy). Ideally aged between 17 & 24, Jim will play opposite Laura (a serving girl in the Inn owned by Jim’s mother, Dame Trott). These characters feature prominently throughout the show and Jim is not required to sing or dance.

Haslingfield Little Theatre will be staging the traditional family pantomime Treasure Island on 23, 24, 25 November at Haslingfield Village Hall.
Rehearsals commence on Monday, September 4 and the director is eager to fill three remaining parts to complete the cast of 30 led by Robert Louis Stevenson’s popular sea-dog Long John Silver. We are very sad to announce the passing of David Lewis, 21 July 1936 – 31 July 2023.
David and his wife Margy retired and moved to Haslingfield 20 years ago and he enjoyed being on the All Saints church team and singing with the Village Choir.
The funeral will be held at All Saints’ Church on Tuesday 22 August at 11.30 am.
We plan* to show the final in Haslingfield Village Hall. Sunday 20th August, 11am start. Coffee, bacon sandwiches and bar.

The buildings with some of the Village Archives will be open for viewing on the Saturdays of 5th and 26th August between 10 am and Noon. Come along and learn more about the history of the village or even your road. This is a free event held by the Haslingfield Village Society. We are looking forward to meeting new people and old friends.
