The Hradec Quartet play Haslingfield

church1On Thursday, 10 April at 7.30 pm, The Hradec Quartet will be performing in All Saints Church, Haslingfield. They will be playing Josef Suk’s Meditation, Beethoven’s Quartet in F minor Op. 95 (Serioso), and Ravel’s Quartet in F major.

Tickets are available at Haslingfield Village Shop or on the door. They cost £10 (£7 concessions) and include wine or juice.

Haslingfield Man to run ‘The Toughest Footrace on the Planet’

Marathon des sables (2)In less than 8 weeks’ time, 26 year old, James van der Hoorn from Moss Drive, Haslingfield will be running 156 miles across one of the most desolate landscapes on Earth. Described by National Geographic as the toughest footrace on the planet, The Marathon des Sables is run across the Sahara Desert. James’ chosen charity for this footrace is Mencap.

How to Donate to The Cambridge City Foodbank

Cambridge City FoodbankThe Cambridge City Foodbank is at the centre of a local community project. Food is donated through the generosity of the public, and 90+ professional agencies in the Cambridge area assess and refer people in crisis to the foodbank’s distribution centres using a voucher system. 2 pence coins for ‘Squeaky Gate’ charity

Terry Baker, who lives in Haslingfield,  has been asked to help create part of a garden at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show for the charity ‘Squeaky Gate’, which provides support to young people with mental health difficulties. The garden will include a paving made out of 2p coins – the aim being to raise £4,500 worth of 2ps to make a pathway. Little Theatre’s ALADDIN Nominated for an Award!

HLT LOGO (2) jpgWe are delighted to announce that we have received an award nomination from the National Operatic and Drama Association (NODA) for our November 2013 production, ALADDIN. The nomination is for Best Technical Award 2013 for the set and costumes; the winners will be announced at the end of April. Get involved in 84 CHARING CROSS ROAD!

HLT LOGO (2) jpgOur next play is 84 CHARING CROSS ROAD, which we will be performing on 15, 16, and 17 May. This wonderful production is a dramatization of letters between a struggling New York writer (Helen Hanff) and an antiquarian bookseller in London, and takes places over a 20-year period. Read more

Spanish Language Toddler Group starting in Haslingfield

In January 2014, a Spanish Language Toddler Group will be starting in Haslingfield. The group will teach basic Spanish to complete beginners from 0 – 3 years old using songs, puppets and play. The cost will be £4 per session and there is no need for parents to have any knowledge of foreign languages. Tuition for any other age group will also be considered. Read more
