THIS SUNDAY: Choral Music Concert at all Saints’ Church, Haslingfield

This Sunday, 1 June, Le Mouton Noir will be performing some beautiful choral music at All Saints’ Church, Haslingfield. The music will range from William Byrd to Vaughan Williams – all exploring themes of time, truth beauty and pleasure. Doors open at 5.30 pm. Concert starts at 6 pm.

If you haven’t bought your tickets yet, there are still some available here and at Haslingfield Village Shop: £10 adults/£5 children (under 5s free).

The concert will raise money for All Saints’ Church, Haslingfield, and for United Haslingfield Charities and is in memory of John Offord.

Guided Rare Orchid Walk to Haslingfield Quarry

Haslingfield Quarry (or clunch pit) is one of only two sites recorded by the Wildlife Trust in the three counties of Beds, Northants and Cambs which are home to the rare Man Orchid. This relatively undisturbed chalk grassland, a County Wildlife Site, also boasts Bee Orchids, Twayblades, Common Spotted Orchids and Pyramidal Orchids, as well as many other native wildflowers.
 

This walk and talk by Parish Councillor Clive Blower, organised by the Haslingfield and Harlton Eco Group, includes historical information about the Quarry and nearby cottages and an optional climb to the top of Money Hill, with 360 degree panoramic views across the south of the county and north to the spires of Cambridge. Counting Nature on God’s Green Acre

Come and join the Eco Group at All Saints Churchyard, Haslingfield, as we discover the trees and other plants – and more – growing in the burial ground, Vicarage Garden and Glebe Wood.

Part of the “God’s Green Acre” movement to protect and enhance natural spaces in church grounds, we will identify wildflowers, trees and, if we are lucky, insects such as butterflies and bees and record the information with the environmental records authority (CPERC). Read more

Rest, time, truth and beauty are the themes of a short summer concert series led by Haslingfield musicians, hosted by All Saints’ Church, Haslingfield, CB23 1JF. Haslingfield’s Second Repair Cafe – Saturday 14 June

Haslingfield and Harlton Eco have teamed up with the Eversden Repair Cafe team for our Second Repair Cafe on Saturday 14 Jun 2025, 1:00pm – 5:00pm at Haslingfield Village Hall. Bring your broken toys, clothes and textiles that need mending, mechanical items, electronics and more for repair or assessment by our experienced volunteer repairers.

Pre-book to ensure your repair can be looked at, or take your chances on the day. Bookings to haslingfieldrepaircafe@gmail.com. Repairs are free but donations to cover costs are welcome. Tea and cake will be on sale to benefit the Little Owls preschool. Read more

On 15, 16 & 17 May (7.30 pm, Haslingfield Village Hall) Haslingfield Little Theatre are performing the award-winning, innovative and thought-provoking play, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, adapted by Simon Stephens, based on the novel by Mark Haddon.

If you are interested in going, but have not bought tickets yet, there is still availability for 15 May here. Tickets for 16 May are now sold out, but there are still a few on sale for 17 May at Haslingfield Village Shop. (Please note, the play contains strong language and adult themes, so is unsuitable for children under 16).

Tickets are now on sale for The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, which Haslingfield Little Theatre are performing on 15, 16, 17 May at 7.30 pm at Haslingfield Village Hall.

Wednesday 2 April: Haslingfield and Harlton Eco Group AGM

The Haslingfield and Harlton Eco Group has been active for four years now and invites everyone to come along to our AGM on Wednesday 2nd April, 8-9.30 pm,  Wisbey’s Yard Community Room, Wisbey’s Yard, Haslingfield. We’ll be sharing our Annual Report, packed with the work on nature, education, community development, dealing with the climate crisis, political engagement, green spaces and more that our members have carried out over the past year. Little Theatre May Show: Read-through & Auditions – w/c 3 February

The Haslingfield Little Theatre May 2025 show will be the dramatic comedy, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time by Simon Stephens, based on the novel by Mark Haddon. The play will be performed at Haslingfield Village Hall on 15, 16 & 17 May 2025.

The script read-through will take place on Monday 3 February, with auditions following on Thursday 6 February – both at 7.30 pm at Haslingfield Village Hall. Everyone interested in being involved (either on stage or in the Production Team) is invited to come along.
