Just a quick reminder that the read through and auditions for Haslingfield Little Theatre’s November Panto, Ali Baba & the Forty Thieves will be taking place soon. Both will take place at Haslingfield Village Hall at 7.30 pm: Read-through: Monday 19 July, Auditions: Monday 26 July.
Do come along, if you’re interested in being involved, either on-stage or as part of the production team. Teenagers aged 13+ are also welcome to attend.
Rehearsals will start on Thursday 2 September (dependent on prevailing Government Guidelines). We rehearse at Haslingfield Village Hall for two hours on Monday and Thursday evenings. Performances are planned for 25, 26, 27 November 2021. www.haslingfieldlittletheatre.co.uk

This evening (21 April) Anthony Browne MP ran a public meeting regarding EWR’s proposed route from the Eversdens to Little Shelford, which of course runs through Haslingfield. You can access the meeting on YouTube here.

Here are two historical accounts relating to Aviation in Haslingfield – submitted by Nigel Perry:
Mustang P-51D crash Sunday 6 August 1944 The P-51D Mustang was from the 339th Fighter Group Fowlmere. It had taken off from Fowlmere at 08.35 hrs on a mission and spun in out of a cloudbase of 700 feet, crashed through hedges bordering Cantelupe Road, roughly 100 yards beyond the footpath at Lesanna Farm at 08.50 hrs. The aircraft exploded in a field right of the road. Wreckage was strewn 400 yards with bullets exploding.
The pilot 2/Lt Arthur Tongue was thrown out and sadly killed. He is buried in the American War Cemetery at Madingley Plot E Row 4 Grave #73. Read more

Quiz masters Hannah and James Roberts are returning for another virtual quiz night on You Tube Live at 8pm. This event is aimed at adults and the theme is the 80s and 90s. Join as an individual, couple or a team (maximum of 6). Arrange your own team communications on an app such as Zoom or WhatsApp.
There is no fixed price for joining in but we are asking for a donation of whatever you can spare. Our aim is to raise £1000 for the PTFA and Haslingfield Little Owls. First prize is half a dozen bottles of wine (Thank you Offord and Camp!) and a cash donation given to the charity of your choice. Read more
