Model of EWR Passing Haslingfield

Come and see Steve’s model at the EWR drop in event this Friday. EWRCo. won’t reveal key information about why they have chosen this route even when the Information Commissioner has ordered them to do so. The new EWRCo. CEO Beth West admits that the cost of the railway will likely exceed its direct benefits, however, it will act as a catalyst for extensive private sector investment into the area between Oxford and Cambridge. So much so that the gross value add (GVA) for the Cambridge economy will apparently reach £274bn. For reference, the GVA of the biomedical campus is around £1bn depending on what you include. The dystopian scene shown in Steve’s model is then, just the start.

The route south is problematical in many ways so I cannot understand why the northern route is not the preferred route : with stations in the new towns north of Cambridge and their populations trying to access work in Cambridge and the biomedical campus .
