A Concert to Celebrate the Life of Margaret Houghton M.B.E.

For thirty-nine years, Margaret Houghton, who sadly died this June, was the inspiration and power house behind Haslingfield Choir and Orchestra, directing two concerts a year in All Saints Church. Now, the choir and orchestra are celebrating her achievement with a concert in All Saints Church on Saturday, October 16th at 7.30 pm.

We are performing a selection of short works, most of which appeared in our concerts over the years, including works by John Rutter, Fauré, Gounod, Brahms, Haydn, Bach, and Handel. Our guest conductor is Martin Ennis, Director of Music at Girton College, and soloists Angharad Gruffydd Jones (soprano) and Francis Williams (tenor) represent the band of wonderful soloists who have enhanced our performances over the years. Programmes (£8) are on sale at the Village Shop, Haslingfield, and at the door. There will be a collection in aid of Haslingfield P.C.C. Fund and the Anglia Ruskin Music Therapy Appeal.
