Looking for any pictures of Brenda Ryder, lived in Haslingfield until she sadly died in 2013. Brenda looked after me when I was young in Papworth Everard. I lost touch when I moved abroad and when I came back I tried to find her. Would dearly love a photograph. After she married she moved to Haslingfield and is buried in the churchyard. Thank you so much.

Hello,my mother was margory cracknell ..her mother was Alice barnyard.i can remember visiting knapp farm as a child..I loved Uncle Tom he was such a character..I used to spend a lot of time at Linton with aunt Janet and my grandad, Ernest Cracknell he was a carpenter.I can remember Aunt Nell and Pops .also cousin John and David,,would love to know more about the family.Alison

I saw the picture of the Football team in 1909 that included Ted Gatward.
I am researching this Gatward family – they were Blacksmiths in the village from 1874.
Initially Ted’s father Albert and then Ted who lived there until around 1950.
I was wondering if there were any other photos or stories that anyone had on the Gatward family?

Hello, William prmeNewling was my Grandmother s Father and her Mother was ElizabethNewling , Daisy was one of my Grandmother s Sister , as I understand it she married a sheep farmer and lived in NZ . You must be related to us , my Grandmother full name was Glady Maud Newling and she was married to Edward Patman . There are 4 of her Grandchildren alive including myself .

Photo 11 of 35 , the old house I believe was built in the 16th century used to,be divided into 3 separate houses. I was born in the far right section …..Faith Jennings…….Mr and Mrs Chamberlain lived in the middle section , I cant remember who,was in the left hand part

Really fascinating to look at all the old photos.
My mother is a Barnard and my great grandfather was Josiah Barnard as was my uncle Tom Barnard.
Also my cousin still lives in Haslingfield
This site has brought back many, many happy memories

Hi Folks emailing from NZ, Is there by any chance any surviving images of the Prime family who owned Spring Hall Farm in the 1800s. And any of the Newling Family in Haslingfield during that same period, I’m a 3rd g-grandaughter of William Prime/Elizabeth Newling, through their grandaughter Daisy Fanny Newling.

Image 11 is Lucy Barnard who married Ellis Butler and lived at Oak Cot. When Lucy died Ellis moved to 7 Church Street – Hillside Cottage.

Photo 251 My grandmother Mrs Rose Gifford and her youngest daughter Janet are in the photo. They lived at Spring Hall Farm, Haslingfield before the Todds moved there in the early 60’s.

Re photo 245 Lizzie Patman, do you have any further details. My GGG Grandad was Stephen Harrison Patman (b.1838-d.1915) he had been a Sexton in his later years, he had a daughter called Elizabeth who appears on the 1911 census aged 42, I wondered if this is a photo of her, there were a couple more of the same name in the 1911 census.

Re photo 193, said to be milking shed at River Farm, I think you will find that is the granary in the field behind the current Methodist Chapel, taken from behind the chapel looking towards the old Manor Orchard behind the Dovecote.

Re the photo of the inaugural meeting/tea of the over 60’s club, on the last line you mention Mr Fred Dodds (ex- missionery of The Manor) as No. 5. I am fairly certain the lady next to him, No. 4, is his wife, Grace Dodds.

Ref photo no. 4, Cobbler’s shop in Church Street – west of the Marquis of Granby & east of the shop. Cobbler is Mr. Gifford.
It would seem that Mr Gifford may be my Great Grandfather John Gifford as he was a shoemaker in Haslingfield. Would anyone be able to identify him from the several men who appear in the photo.

Ref photo 141.
Willis Barnard in the photo is my grandfather. The caption said that he emigrated to Canada and had 5 sons. He actual had 2 sons and a daughter, his oldest being my father. The caption also saids (c 1916). Willis emigrated to Canada in 1910 when he was 19 years old so this photo is earlier then 1916.

Dear Mr Cole, The caption we have in the village archive for the 1932 School football team says it must be Basil Custerton or Greg Cole. If Greg Cole was not yet born and there is no other Greg Cole floating about, then I assume it must be Basil Custerton. I have amended to caption to say this. Thanks for the input.

Dear Sirs,
A correction to the school football team photo of 1932.
Among the names quoted is Greg Cole, my late brother.
As he was born in 1933, he could not have been in the team,
or the photograph. The Cole connection is there though, as
father, Mr Eric George Cole, was headmaster then and would have
selected the team.
