From today (Monday 27th October) the Little Rose Pub is now open from Noon until Late 7 days a week. It’s also selling food from Noon until 9pm Mondays to Saturdays and Traditional Sunday Lunches from Noon until 3pm on Sundays. As the village’s last pub is now a proper, true Freehouse, it serves a range of at least 3 real ales, plus the usual lagers, wines and spirits as well as Teas, Coffees and soft drinks. The pub also sells a wide range of Children’s meals for just £3-00 alongside a special selection of children’s drinks. It welcomes families with children of any age.

Any village club, society or group are welcome to use the newly decorated Lounge bar for meetings or get togethers for free. Simply turn up when the pub is open and make yourself at home.

Jack and the Beanstalk – Tickets now in Shops!

jack and the beanstalk poster revised versionYou can now buy your tickets for Haslingfield Little Theatre’s panto, Jack and the Beanstalk. Performances are on 27, 28 and 29 November at Haslingfield Village Hall, and start at 7.30 p.m. with a matinee performance at 2.30 p.m. on Saturday 29 November.

The show will include a seven-foot giant, a beanstalk that grows to 15 feet before your very eyes, a strangely attractive dame, a dancing cow, great song and dance numbers, as well, of course, as the thigh-slapping Principal Boy!

Next Village Society Talk

bee‘BOTHER WITH BEES’, an important matter and the subject of a talk by Dr Bill Block, a local beekeeper, whose is an Emeritus Fellow of the British Antarctic Survey. Insect pollination contributes hugely to British agriculture and honey bees play an important role in it. Beekeeping has changed dramatically over recent decades with pests and diseases increasing in importance together with changes in agriculture.  After an introduction to modern beekeeping, Bill will discuss how these challenges are being met.  Tuesday, 21st October 2014,  Haslingfield Village Hall, 8:00 PM.  Everyone is mst welcome. Members and school age free. Small charge for visitors.

Pub Garden Plans Published

The new owners of the Little Rose pub, Wrenbridge, have published their plans to build two houses on the newly fenced off part of the pub garden. They’ll both be detached, one will have 3 bedrooms and the other will have 5 bedrooms. Access will be via Badcock Road. Wrenbridge will be holding an exhibition of their plans in the Lounge Bar of the pub on Wednesday 8th October from 4pm until 8pm and then again on Saturday 11th October from noon until 4pm. chapel hillThe History and Traditions of Chapel Hill, Haslingfield: The Pilgrimage to Our Lady of White Hill   Speaker: Jonathan Spain   His talk will look both at the historical evidence for the existence of the chapel or shrine and the role which local historians played in preserving that tradition over 350 years down to the present day, looking at the historical and religious motivations. It is a study in the way in which ‘local’ history and tradition is created and maintained.  Haslingfield Village Hall, Tuesday 16th September 2014, 8.00pm.  All are welcome.

movie-cameraThe next Film Club will be at 7.30pm on Friday 26th September 2014 in the Haslingfield Methodist Church Rooms.  Admission is free.  Running time 120 min., Certificate 12 and subtitles for the ‘Hard of Hearing’.  We shall break for tea/coffee and biscuits half way through and there will be a collection to cover refreshments and use of the rooms.
