Blue Skies Big Band returns to Haslingfield – a Charity Concert in aid of the Alzheimer’s Research Fund

Blue Skies Big BandHaslingfield Little Theatre are delighted to be hosting another Blue Skies Big Band Concert, following their very successful performance in February. The concert will take place at Haslingfield Village Hall on Saturday 27 February 2016, and will be in aid of The Alzheimer’s Research Fund (No.1077089). Doors will open at 7.30 pm for an 8.00 pm start. Save the Children Festive Family Fun Day and Jumble Sale

The day will include: Food from Provenance Kitchen ~ Live music ~ Mulled wine and mince pies ~ Cake stall ~ Raffle ~ Craft Table ~ Jumble sale of children’s clothes, toys and equipment ~ Face painting, and more.

Mother Goose – A handful of tickets left!

Christmas Gift Event – TOMORROW, Saturday 21st November at the Little Rose

posterTomorrow, Saturday 21st November,  from 3-7 pm there will be a Christmas Gift Event at the Little Rose. Elsa from Frozen will be there from 3.30 – 4.30pm to sing and read stories to your children.

School Christmas Fayre – Saturday 12th December

Christmas-Fayre-2015-posterOn Saturday 12th December from 11.30 am – 1.30 pm, Haslingfield Primary School will be holding its Christmas Fayre. There will be Santa’s Grotto, Stalls, a Raffle, Carol Singing, Teas, Hot Dogs, Pulled Park, Sing-along Frozen and Mulled Wine.

Everyone Welcome – free entry.

If you’d like tickets for the Friday or Saturday night performances, there are still a few tickets available for these dates in Haslingfield Village Shop and Country Kitchen. However, the Saturday matinee is completely sold out.

MEETING: Celebration of 90th birthday and the long reign of Queen Elizabeth II

crownThe next meeting to make plans for a village celebration on 11th and 12th June 2016 will be held in the Methodist Church this Wednesday 11th November at 7.30pm.

Tentative plans for a fancy dress parade, round-the-village race, giant “Street Party” on the Rec, “Great British Bake Off”. “Haslingfield’s Got Talent”, Church service on Sunday and Scarecrows around the village. Read more

THIS SATURDAY 7th November, CHARITY FAIR – 11am-2.30pm – Haslingfield Methodist Church

Charity Fair 2015This event gets better every year with 19 different charities taking part.  There will be lots of different things to buy – Christmas cards, Christmas puddings, books, homemade food etc. You can also help to make a quilt that will be sent to a sick baby in Addenbrookes Hospital AND you might win a big one in the raffle! As well as all the stalls, there will be a café serving delicious homemade food and light lunches.

Children, don’t forget to take your Christmas letters along to the Fair . You can post them in a special postbox, and Action for Children will send them to Father Christmas. He has promised to send you a reply!” Read more

NEXT TUESDAY 3rd November, 7.30pm – Village Defibrillator: Heartbeat Awareness session – Village Hall

A defibrillator has now been ordered from the Community Heartbeat Trust and will be placed in the redundant telephone box on the High Street. It can be used without any formal training because the equipment is very easy to use, and when you have dialled 999, the ambulance service operator will give you the code to open the defibrillator cabinet and stay on the telephone to assist you. Mother Goose – Tickets on sale here!

mother goose poster 2 mbCome and see Haslingfield Little Theatre’s traditional panto, Mother Goose, set in the land of the snow geese  – a frozen wonderland of trolls, snowmen, woolly jumpers and even the occasional moose!

Performances are on 26, 27 and 28 November at Haslingfield Village Hall. You can buy your tickets online here.  There are also some tickets on sale in the Village Shop and Country Kitchen. Tickets cost £9 per person (£6 concessions for under 16s and 65+, no concessions Saturday evening).

TOMORROW NIGHT, THURSDAY 15TH OCTOBER – Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday celebration Meeting

It was agreed by the Parish Council that a village event would take place on the weekend of the 11th – 12th June 2016 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday. The plan is to involve as many Haslingfield Villagers as possible; arranging events throughout the whole of the Saturday and concluding the celebration with a Church service on the Sunday.

A meeting is to be held in the Methodist Church this Thursday 15th October at 7.30 pm. To make this a memorable and successful event we need your ideas, help and support and we would be grateful if you could come to this meeting.
