Textile Bank at Porkers Lane

South Cambridgeshire District Council provides a network of textile and book recycling banks across the District. The contractor delivering this service notified the council late last week that they will begin removing all banks during week commencing 15 February and 22 February.
This extreme lack of notice has not allowed an alternative arrangement to be put in place and regrettably there will be a period where recycling bring facilities will not be available. For more details, click

I am contacting you as the textile bank at Porkers Lane, Haslingfield is one of the banks affected. Whilst we develop a longer term solution we will ensure that notifications are put up at the site to explain that banks have been/will be removed, signpost residents to alternative banks and monitor the site to ensure they remain clear.

We are currently in discussion with alternative providers and will keep parishes informed. I would welcome feedback from parishes in relation to whether they feel the textile bank is a service required within your area.

We apologise for any inconvenience this gap in service may cause residents and would ask that any issues related to this are highlighted to me (e.g. littering). Please be assured that this unexpected issue will be resolved by South Cambridgeshire District Council as quickly as possible.

Many thanks

Kind regards
