Pub Stays for the Short Term
Local Haslingfield Couple will take over the running of the Little Rose on the 15th July. At the same time, the pub will become a Freehouse. Neil and Sue Poole have lived in the village for 35 years and are very experienced local business people.
They’ve got some great ideas for what to do with the pub. They’ll be running it for Wrenbridge, the new owners of the pub, for a trial period, which will be at least 9 months. The pub will become a Freehouse so will be able to sell whatever beer and snacks that Neil and Sue want to sell. It’s currently tied to Greene King.
Also, a group of village residents have successfully registered the pub as an Asset of Community Value. This means it’ll be slightly more difficult to close it. It also opens the door to enable the group to access other help and support which may be available, if the group decides to do this.

Best of luck, but it’s an odd sytle of pub in a poor location serving only a select group of locals. Many would be sad to lose the only pub, but would accept that they never visit. Wrenbridge have a realistic chance and my hope would be that family housing is built and the pub relocated to a more prominent location.

Great news! It’s been tough for village pubs for some time, The Little Rose has been lucky to survive. Now Greene King has relinquished control it stands a good chance of adapting to the needs of the local community. Best wishes and good luck to the new owners.
