Annual Charity Big Bike Challenge Rides Through Haslingfield
This years ‘Cambridge News Big Bike Ride’ will be returning on June 23 and should provide something for everyone with three routes of differing length – a Bronze 12.5 miles, Silver 62 miles and Gold 100 miles.
The charity ride will start and finish at Netherhall School with the challenging silver ride following a scenic 62-mile route through Fulbourn, Bottisham, Reach, Stretham, Oakington, Toft, Hardwick and Haslingfield before turning back towards Cambridge through Shelford.
Last year more than 600 people turned out to raise almost £20,000 for local charities and in 2013 we are looking to raise even more for our beneficiary charities, which are Press Relief – the News’ Community Fund – Arthur Rank Hospice Charity and Teenage Cancer Trust.
John Cary, deputy editor of the Cambridge News and a Press Relief trustee, said: “We are delighted to be staging this event again in 2013 and are grateful for all the support the county council is giving us through their cycling experience and planning expertise. Cambridge has many cycling enthusiasts and the Big Bike Ride is a great day out. There is something for everyone, whether you are on your bike every day, a fair-weather cyclist or just once a year, there is something for you.”
Entry for the bronze route is £12.50 per adult and entry for the gold and silver is £25 per adult. Every penny of the registration fee goes to the three charities.
