Haslingfield School Mosaic Project

The children at Haslingfield School have been spending time during their art lessons working on a whole school mosaic project. Mosaic making is a very slow process and the children, led by local mosaic specialist, Terry Baker, have worked together every Tuesday afternoon since January.

It started with them all being encouraged to draw suggestions as to what they would like to include, on the subject of nature and the local natural environment.  Trees, the local river and wild flowers were very popular so the panel was drawn out and the real work began!

Every child at school has contributed to the really terrific end result, and it is finally ready to be revealed!

It will be fixed up in the school hall in the middle of July but can be seen before then at: Bakers Cottage, The Knapp, Haslingfield on 5/6 and 12/13 July between 10am and 5pm when Terry Baker’s studio will be open with Cambridge Open Studios – just look for the yellow flag.  There will be tea/coffee and cake in exchange for a small donation to the schools art fund.  The children are very excited to be showing off the wonderful result of their very hard work and hope there will be lots of visitors.
