Cambridge Nature Festival – Guided Walk to Haslingfield Clunch Pit
Sunday, June 16th 10.30 am:
Short, guided walk to this historic and rare chalk grassland. A County Wildlife Site, it is one of only two sites in the area with records of Man Orchids. Led by Parish Councillor Clive Blower, who has volunteered with the Wildlife Trust over a number of years to look after this site. You’ll also see bee orchids, twayblades, and common spotted orchids, as well as other chalk grassland wildflowers, and hear about the history of the area and how it relates to some of the University of Cambridge Colleges. Option to walk to the top of the chalk hill with spectacular views over Cambridge.
Mild incline, dirt track. BYO water.
Meet on foot at the bottom of Quarry Lane (off School Lane/Back Lane) Haslingfield at 10.30 am sharp. Booking not required. Walk goes rain or shine.
Close parking available in Chestnut Close or on the High Street, or a slightly longer walk from the Village Hall.
