|Cadets from St Neots and their leaders joined forces with regular officers to raise awareness of child sexual exploitation in and around the Cambridgeshire area.
The operation was a huge success and a number of establishments visited; this raised the profile of Child Sexual Exploitation & provided education to the public.

This was the cadets first involvement with officers since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic and they thoroughly enjoyed the experience and getting involved. Throughout the event safety was adhered to at all times.
Cadet Leader Amanda Large said: ‘An operation like this can’t be carried out without young people and what a great way to get our Police cadets involved, especially as they are part of the policing family. The cadets were so excited to be involved, especially where they were so integral to its success.’
DS Maria Allgood said: ‘Without our cadets stepping forward as part of the community, we would be unable to run such events’
It is amazing that the Police Cadets are able to support local policing operations and have the opportunity to work alongside Officers gaining valuable experience in relation to Policing operations.
We are always looking for more volunteers to become Cadet Leaders and to support our local Cadet units. Do you have what it takes to inspire and encourage a young generation?
The Volunteer Police Cadets (VPC) is the nationally recognised police uniformed youth group throughout the UK. The purpose of the VPC is not to recruit police officers of the future, but to encourage the spirit of adventure and good citizenship amongst its members. We believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive, regardless of his or her background. We encourage young people from all backgrounds to join, including those who may be vulnerable to crime or social exclusion. We have a diverse group of young people aged 13 to 18 years, who have the desire to support their local communities and gain an understanding of policing.
The aims of the Voluntary Police Cadets (VPC) are to;
promote a practical understanding of policing amongst young people
encourage the spirit of adventure and good citizenship
support local policing priorities by volunteering and giving young people a chance to be heard
inspire young people to participate positively in their communities.
?Cadet leaders give young people a stable role model while looking after their welfare and encouraging their development and aspirations. Whilst most of our leaders come from the policing family, we welcome adults from all walks of life and particularly encourage those without a policing background. You will undergo vetting to the highest national standards, enabling you to work alongside young people. You will receive training to support you and to develop your own knowledge and skillset. If you can spare just three hours (or more!) a month and wish to support your community and the young people of Cambridgeshire, please do get in touch -this could be exactly what you’re looking for!
We have Cadet Units in Ely, Cambridge, St Neots, Cambourne, Wisbech and Peterborough.
If you are interested in volunteering your time to support our cadets or for further information, please get in touch with us at Cadets@cambs.pnn.police.uk
