Wisbey’s Yard official opening to mark Rural Housing Week – 3-5pm Friday 15th July

In rural areas the average home costs 14 times local incomes in the South East and 11 times local incomes in the East of England. The National Housing Federation is holding its Rural Housing Week (11-17 July 2011) to raise awareness of the value of affordable housing in keeping local communities and villages alive.

Granta Housing Society, which is part of Metropolitan Housing Partnership (MHP), will be holding an official opening for a new affordable housing development at Wisbey’s Yard, Haslingfield, to coincide with Rural Housing Week. The event will take place on Friday 15 July from 3-5pm.

The development at Wisbey’s Yard Haslingfield consists of nine affordable homes for rent for local people who need housing. Ideal for families it includes: 2 x 3 bed and 5 x 2 bed houses and 2 x 2 bed bungalows. The newly developed houses replace four local authority properties which were in a poor state of repair.

Granta Housing Society has worked closely with South Cambridgeshire District Council, the Parish Council and the Homes and Communities Agency, which provided funding for the project, to make the development a success. Representatives from all four organisations will be joined by other partners and local residents at the event.
