Baby Owls exists to give new parents the opportunity to meet each other somewhere very local, have a drink and a biscuit and/or fruit, let the babies play while you chat. The group is brand new – it’s first session was Wednesday 10 September, so it is as yet fairly unformed. It will be whatever you make it, we have no fixed idea for it, it’s up to you.
This Sunday 7 September between 2.00 p.m. and 5.30 p.m. you will be able to enjoy a traditional cream tea with freshly-baked scones, jam and cream, in the informal woodland garden of The Dovecote 29 High Street, Haslingfield. All proceeds to Parkinson’s UK.
From September 8th onwards, you will be able to practice yoga on Monday mornings in Haslingfield Village Hall. Run by Shelagh and Chris, the class will be open to beginners and experienced practitioners alike.
Classes run term time only: Mondays: 9:30am-11:00am in Haslingfield Village Hall

Thank you to everyone who made a donation to the Foodbank when they came to the Strawberry Fayre. 4 boxes of food were taken to the Foodbank and they were very grateful for your support. At the moment they DON’T NEED soup, pasta or baked beans, but they would still like to receive Tea bags (40’s and 80’s), Tinned vegetables, meatand puddings, jam, granulated sugar and milk powder. They also said that toothbrushes and toothpaste were much appreciated. The need is still there, so please continue to help. Your donations can be left at the Village Shop, Methodist Church or Parish Church.
As all the toddler groups and preschools have closed down for the summer, we have decided to start a Stay and Play group. Babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers are welcome, as are their older siblings, although the toys will not necessarily be appropriate for older children.
Summer Owls will run on the following dates from 10am to 12pm at the Methodist Church. Please bring your own snacks and drinks, we are only asking for a contribution of £1 per family to cover the cost of renting the space – we are not expecting to make a profit from this, we just want to offer something for the local children to do. Please see the dates by clicking on Read More, below.Read more

On 27, 28 and 29 November, we will be performing the panto, Jack and the Beanstalk. Tomorrow night, Thursday, 17 July, we will be reading through the script at 7.45 p.m. in Haslingfield Village Hall. (Auditions take place next Thursday 24 July – same time, same place).
We would love to see some new faces (as well as some old ones!), so if you think you may enjoy being part of this show – on stage or back stage, why not pop down to the Village Hall to find out what would be involved. No previous experience is necessary – just lots of enthusiasm!
A fantail dove (similar to the one in this photo) has been spotted over the last two days in New Road, Haslingfield. He is ringed and fairly tame, is probably local and has possibly escaped from an aviary. If he belongs to you, or you know of one missing, please ring 01223 870510 or email disyridg@gmail.com. Thank you.
