VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – Haslingfield Food Hub

Harston Food Hub have kindly said they can share the scheme they have worked hard to put in place with us, as we are evolving the Haslingfield food cupboard. The cupboard scheme can no longer keep up with the increased demand.

This opportunity will also allow us to also provide fresh food to those in need as well as opening fresh food up to anyone regardless of need to reduce excess food waste that is an alarming issue. This may be from supermarkets with an overstock or anyone who’s garden/ tress etc are producing more than needed.

So, the plan is to open up a food hub in Haslingfield Methodist Church every Saturday from 12-2pm. We need volunteers to set up/ collect from Harston, man the open hours and to help clear down/ return unused items to the hub in Harston to be passed on to other causes such as women’s shelters etc. We need volunteers between 11am & 3pm, you can volunteer for as little as an hour or more if you can, there is no need to volunteer every week either. We aim to run this scheme for 6 weeks and then asses our need and adapt if it needs to. We are going to start on Saturday 5th September.

More details of how this hub will work for all and where drop off points will be will be posted over the next few days. Any wishing to donate non perishables can still do so in the cupboard until 1st thing Tue 1st Sept. then we will have new locations for these items. Stay tuned.

Please comment below if you are interested in volunteering and we will be in touch.

Many thanks to all who have contributed to the cupboard and volunteered over these difficult times.
