TOMORROW NIGHT, THURSDAY 15TH OCTOBER – Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday celebration Meeting

It was agreed by the Parish Council that a village event would take place on the weekend of the 11th – 12th June 2016 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday. The plan is to involve as many Haslingfield Villagers as possible; arranging events throughout the whole of the Saturday and concluding the celebration with a Church service on the Sunday.

A meeting is to be held in the Methodist Church this Thursday 15th October at 7.30 pm. To make this a memorable and successful event we need your ideas, help and support and we would be grateful if you could come to this meeting.

The vineyard accommodation, complete with swimming pool, awaits the visitors.
All that’s required is the chosen date of the visit and names. Email me at the earliest.
Visitor information has, hopefully, now arrived with Amanda. A confirmation welcomed.
    I’m still mystified by Christine!

As a follow-up to my last comment an idea to pursue
    A prize in a celebration raffle/draw.
I can, with the groups I belong to, and individuals I know, put together a
weekend/long weekend visit here. For example accommodation in a vineyard
owned by the same family since before 1789. Interesting local visits and of course
our gastronomy. Costs here covered locally through the local organisations.
It’s been done in the past.
Check flights from Stansted to Rodez, low cost, and all bookable online.
Flight little more than an hour.
Visitors met at Rodez and brought to Gaillac. Arrival formalities correct and rapid.
To cover the low cost flights the tickets for the draw appropriately priced.
I will send some visitor information to you.

I recall more than one Christine from the past in the village.
Are you one of them, or a recent arrival that I don’t know?
It helps to be clear to know with whom I’m corresponding,as
    I’m sure you appreciate.
    Memories no problem.
Living in a region that has produced wines for over two millenia,
and recognised by AOC, I can organise a delivery for the celebrations.
Perhaps for the pensioners like me?
There are other excellent French things to mark ‘l’Entente Cordiale’ created
by the queen’s forebear Edward VII, that could also be sent.
    The visit invitations remain open.

An ocasion to rank with the coronation, jubilees, and length of reign the longest in
UK history. She may reign longer than France’s Louis XIV?
Good luck with putting together the celebrations.
I guess no longer being a ‘Haslingfield Villager’ excludes me from submitting, memories, thoughts and suggestions reflecting my half century in the village?
