HASLINGFIELD SCARECROW FESTIVAL 2014
12th ~ 14th September
All Weekend look out for scarecrows around the village and even a few in Harlton. Please remember to put your scarecrow up before the 12th September. (There are some bales of straw behind the Glebe wall in the churchyard and near the churchyard shed. Please take it away in blocks so as to minimise mess).

FRIDAY 12th September
FRIDAY NIGHT QUIZ at THE LITTLE ROSE. Quiz starts at 8.30 pm
Anybody can enter a team of 6 on the night. Entrance fee is £20 per team which includes a light supper and there will be cash prizes. For more information contact Neil and Sue on 01223 872618.
SATURDAY 13th September
DOG SHOW on the WELL HOUSE MEADOW – starts at 10.30 am (registration from 10 am)
Various dog categories. For more information contact Donna at donna.newey@sky.com or turn up at 10 am for registration. Entry on the day £2 per class, 3 entries for £5.
MACMILLAN BIG COFFEE MORNING
at HASLINGFIELD METHODIST CHURCH from 10 am – noon
ALL SAINTS’ CHURCH OPEN AFTERNOON from 2 pm to 4.30 pm
Featuring the Eversden Brass Band performing on the Glebe. Stalls will include Books, Bric-a-Brac, Cakes and local Produce, Crafts and Tombola. Afternoon cream teas will be served.
PIMM’S @ PEAR TREE – Pear Tree Cottage on Harston Road (just off Back Lane) 4pm to 7pm
Enjoy the last of the summer, with a lazy afternoon in the garden:
Eat: sandwiches and scones.
Drink: Pimm’s, champagne, wine, beer, soft drinks.
Relax: sit back and enjoy the sounds of the CAM Sax quartet… or get involved with some garden games!
ALL proceeds will go to Addenbrooke’s Breast Cancer Appeal (previously known as the Pink Rose Appeal).
LIVE MUSIC EVENING with local band THE REMNANTS
on Haslingfield Rec from 7.45 pm
Rock, Pop and Soul classics from last 5 decades. Free Entry. Bring your own Drinks / Food / Dancing Shoes!
Bucket collection for the hardworking band! Little Owls will be selling Glow lights in the evening.
SUNDAY 14th September
DOWN ON THE FARM
at Lesanna Farm, Cantelupe Road – 11am to 4pm
Weather permitting; we will be holding a small working event, featuring agricultural tractors, from the 1930s through to the present day. There will also be refreshments, with a small play area for’tiny farmers’ to have some fun! No admittance charge, just a collection box where any donations will be gratefully accepted – we will be raising funds for the Arthur Rank Hospice Appeal.
GARDEN SHOP at 2 Harston Road – 11am to 4pm
There will be stalls selling art, cards, jewellery, plants, home baking and fish and chips. There will be maypole dancing, willow weaving and more for kids. Entry for adult’s 50p. Children Free. 10% of profits will go to Haslingfield School. For more details contact opheliaredpath@btinternet.com
SPORT ON THE REC
on Haslingfield Rec and Tennis Courts – 2pm to 5pm
Come and try a variety of sports all of which happen in Haslingfield:
Korfball with Little Owls and soft drinks and cakes.
Football with Haslingfield Colts – come and beat the goalie or try out Cricket or Boot Camp.
Come and try the Ball Machine Challenge or find out how fast your serve is at the Tennis Courts. Or just come along and enjoy a glass of Pimms.
EDIBLE OPEN GARDENS
at 19 Trinity Close and 35 Barton Road – 2 to 5 pm
19 Trinity Close – walk down the drive into Jay’s back garden and over the bridge into the organic vegetable garden and greenhouse.
35 Barton Road – Visit Lucian and Linda Hatfield’s vegetable garden. Regrets no dogs. Please take care as uneven paths and deep water.
Also while looking for Scarecrows throughout the weekend keep an eye out for garage sales and stalls.

Saturday and Sunday 2 – 4pm – 81 New Road – Garage Sale
Saturday and Sunday 11 – 4pm – 2 Butler Way, Off Broad Lane – Trash Chic Clothes and Accessories Pop-Up Shop
Sunday – 7 Canteloupe Road – selling ice creams, buns and lemonade
But there may well be more on the weekend.
