School Lane – Back Lane Footpath: Major Cutback and Clearance
Over the first three weekends in May a group of volunteers did a major cutback and clearance of the vegetation along the 60m (120′) of the school boundary in School Lane. The result is the resurrection of part of the concrete pavement which runs all the way from the school to Chestnut Close (apart from the grassy section between the bollards).
This is part of a wider Parish Council project to rehabilitate the School Lane – Back Lane footpath as a pleasant and safe walking route, and especially as an alternative route to school for children living in Chestnut Close, The Elms and other properties in the south east of the village. Regular cutting of the grassy section between the bollards has already begun.
Later stages of the project will involve clearing the concrete pavement at the Chestnut Close end and, hopefully, laying some new planings between the bollards.
