New goals for Haslingfield Colts FC will be unveiled this Sunday just before Haslingfield play their first home league game of the new season. The match against Godmanchester kicks-off at 2pm on Haslingfield Village Recreation Ground and is part of the village’s Scarecrow Weekend Festival. Haslingfield Colts play at Under 13’s level and this is the fifth season that the team have played together. The club raised enough money to buy the new goals it needs for the new season thanx to the generosity of local organisations. Haslingfield Parish Council gave the club £1,000, South Cambridgeshire District Council also gave the club £1,000 from its Community Chest fund and the Haslingfield based United Charities donated £300 to the Colts. The club would like to thank all three organisations for their donations, as without them, the club wouldn’t be able to buy the new goals. The club needed new goals because this season it’s playing 11-a-side football after playing 9-a-side all last season. As well as playing on a bigger pitch, the club needed bigger goals than the ones it was using up until the end of last season. But as it’s playing at Under 13’s level, full size goals would be too big. Full details of the match, and all this season’s fixtures are in the diary. Supporters are always welcome to the club’s home games and refreshments will be on sale.
