Victorian Haslingfield could not be accused of being unpatriotic. The Golden Jubilee celebrations seem to have been spread over four days, starting with church services on the Sunday and ending with a meat tea run by the local Conservative Club on the Wednesday. The tea was free to members, and cost non-members 1s 3d. This was good value, being followed by a plain tea. The vicar paid for all widows, widowers and the parish poor. The Barrington Brass Band headed a procession through the village, and after the teas sports were held. The unifying effect of the Jubilee celebration was the theme of speeches in the evening, which were followed by the National Anthem.
The Diamond Jubilee celebrations were just as lavish, with 180 sitting down to another meat tea in a local barn. Photographs of the occasion were taken, and once again there were sports. In the evening there was a dance. The day was paid for by local gentlemen, and Robert Sayle lent the decorations.
