ENTER: Talent Show – Sign up on the day
LISTEN TO: Live Music from the Hatfield Family (Palm Court Trio) and the Cambs. Sax Quartet
BAKEHOUSE: Open from 2.00 p.m. – Bring dough for baking bread and scones
JUBILEE RUN: Around the village – Meet on Green at 3.00 p.m.
LITTLE THEATRE: In 50s dress – in 50s Living room, Wash Room and School
PLAYSCHOOL: Selling Refreshments
PROGRAMME OF EVENTS:
The Village Run:
3.00 p.m. Adults Race round village
3.15 p.m. Children’s Race (8-18years old) round village
3.30 p.m. Official Opening of Event and Presentation of prizes for the Race – includes Jubilee Cup and Bottle of Champagne.
Races:
Separate children’s races for those at Playschool, in Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2. Including: Egg & Spoon, 3-Legged, Sack, Running, Dressed Up
Music
Hatfield Family (Palm Court Trio) playing 3.30 p.m. – 4.30 p.m.
Cambs Sax Quartet playing 5.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. (approx)

From the southwest of France I send best wishes for a very successful set of jubilee
celebrations. The return to the 1950’s will no doubt bring back memories for some, and provide surprises for others.
Certainly I remember the school well, with father the headmaster. You’re right it was chalk and blackboards, information came from text books and the teacher, computers were unknown. BBC schools’ radio programmes brought the outside world to the classroom. Pens and ink in inkwells the writing materials. The school functioned on father as headmaster and three staff members, with peripetetic specialists calling weekly.
The school also served as a branch of the county library service, offering village
readers a choice of books that changed every 3/4 months.
A summer coach trip to London or other interesting places was in those times
a high spot on the calendar.
No doubt the presentations will do the memories justice.
Memories too can be revived through seeing the silver jubilee dvd, which I hope
wasn’t considered too unsophistcated for today’s demanding viewers.
Enjoy the day, I shall raise a glass of our wine to the village.
