Saturday 2nd November, 10am – 2 pm
On Sunday the 3rd November we celebrate again our medieval parish church’s dedication to ‘All the Saints’. It reminds us that our church has stood proud and strong at the heart of our village through storms, wars, village festivals, in both sad and happy times, since 1352. Like all old buildings it needs on-going repair and updating for this new century. It needs the support of local ‘saints’ such as yourselves.
Again, we would first of all like to say a huge ‘Thank you’ to you for your generous financial support and good will last year. We were able to complete the refurbishment and soundproofing of the Vestry for the benefit of Sunday School and other purposes. Special thanks must go to the Friends of Haslingfield Church for their support and contributions. Over the past years the Friends have been an important fund-raising body for our church. Unfortunately, this society was wound down nearly a year ago, so we need to double our efforts in this area.
We are working hard to improve and modernise the interior of the church building. In the near to mid-term future we would like to improve seating, lighting, heating and a more reliable audio system. The entire inside of the church desperately needs a facelift. We consider this important in order to make our church fit for purpose as a sacred, cultural and community centre in the twenty-first century. To do this we do need your continued support.
We have a ‘Gift and Open Day’ on Saturday 2nd November, when the church is open for visitors to drop off gifts, to make donations or just to come and explore our beautiful medieval building. Do drop in for tea or coffee, look around and meet those who currently care for and work to improve your church and its local grounds. There will be cake, bric-a-brac and a book stall. And of course, we would like to hear from you how you feel we might improve our church for today and for tomorrow.
We look forward to meeting you and receiving your support.
