There has been a cribbage team playing from The Little Rose since the early 1960’s as part of the Greene King Cambridge Cribbage League. In 1986 we started the Haslingfield & District Cribbage League consisting of local pubs/clubs, all within a radius of 10 miles of Haslingfield, as a breakaway from the larger Greene King league. At present we have 9 teams playing on Thursday evenings. The Little Rose has been quite successful in the past, winning the league in 2007 and recently in the 2013-2014 season with players winning individual competitions. At the end of the first half of this current season we are lying 5th in the table, with plenty of time to catch up until fixtures finish in April 2015. For more details contact either the Little Rose or Keith Murray (keith@murraysouthwell.plus.com) and both will pass on your messages.

Many of the outdoor play facilities at Haslingfield Primary School are in disrepair, this is of particular concern given the emphasis on outdoor activity in the new Physical Education curriculum. As Government funding for Cambridgeshire schools is notoriously low the PTFA is working with Ms. Peck (Leading Senior Teacher and PE Coordinator) to raise money for a new outdoor play facility called a Play Trail. This will have two components, a traverse wall and a wooden obstacle course. See images and more details on how you can help by clicking on ‘Read More’ below: Continue reading Play Trail Appeal for Haslingfield School

Christine Tod is retiring from taking the Bookings at the Village Hall at the end 2014. Christine’s history with the Village Hall has been long and illustrious, not just with the Village Hall as we know it now but with the old one as well. Christine was instrumental in getting the New Village Hall being built in 1994, which wasn’t as popular as we can imagine. After a lot of campaigning as to whether or not Haslingfield had a new hall went to the vote, and was won with a majority of just seven votes. We thank Christine for her tireless work which has always been executed with humour and friendliness.
We are delighted to announce that Terry Baker has agreed to take the Village Hall bookings. Terry has lived in the Haslingfield, for the most part, since 1968 and has always played an active role in the Village; keeping scores for the Cricket Club and being a Leader with the Playgroup. But most of us know Terry from her valued 25 years involvement with the Little Theatre. We wish Terry good luck in her new role.
Booking for the Village Hall from 1 January 2015 should now be made to Terry on telephone number 01223 872150 or on her email terrybaker872@gmail.com
