Small churches are not failed large churches. Small churches must stop apologising for not being large churches. Small churches need to be church in ways that are appropriate to their size. Small churches might choose to stop doing some things and concentrate on doing one or two things well. Small churches often \u2018punch above their weight\u2019 and in rural areas can play a significant role within their communities. There is no blueprint for being a small rural church but there are lots of creative examples of churches being an effective Christian presence in the countryside, discerning what God is doing and joining in. Revd Graham Jones will develop the idea that when it comes to the rural church, \u2018small is beautiful.\u2019 He is the National Rural Officer for the Methodist Church and the United Reformed Church, based at the Arthur Rank Centre in Warwickshire, the churches\u2019 ecumenical resource centre for work in rural communities.<\/strong><\/p>\n
