Dr Jane-Hellyer-Jones will give a talk at Haslingfield Methodist Church on Sunday 27th November at 6.30pm. She is the former wife of Stephen Hawking and her character is featured in the film ‘The Theory of Everything’.
Her title is ‘From Fact to Film to Questions of Faith’.
She will reflect on aspects of her life from her time as Mrs Stephen Hawking to today. The evening will begin with a short time of worship during which Jonathan, Jane’s husband, will play the organ. This will be followed by a talk by Jane, refreshments and informal discussion. Everyone welcome.

Their format will vary, but will usually include a talk, discussion and refreshments.
Oasis Holiday at Home for Seniors will once again be held in the Methodist Church, from Tuesday 26 July to Thursday 28 July, between 9.45 am & 2.30 pm. We are offering a mixture of craft activities, quizzes, music and games, all in a relaxed holiday setting, ending with lunch each day. The next Pop-Up Coffee Shop at the Methodist Church is Tuesday 14th June 8:45 – 11:30am in aid of Ovarian Cancer. In April the shop raised £150 for the Alzheimer’s Society. Come along for fairtrade tea, coffee, cakes and pastries. Why not pop-in for breakfast after the school run?

This event gets better every year with 19 different charities taking part. There will be lots of different things to buy – Christmas cards, Christmas puddings, books, homemade food etc. You can also help to make a quilt that will be sent to a sick baby in Addenbrookes Hospital AND you might win a big one in the raffle! As well as all the stalls, there will be a café serving delicious homemade food and light lunches.

You are invited to join us at Haslingfield Methodist Church at 6.30pm on Sunday 1st November 2015 for our ‘Faith To Live By’ evening led by Revd Dr Michael Wilson. There cannot be many families able to tell a story like this – Methodist missionary in China during the Japanese war and the Revolution- expulsion from mainland China etc.

OASIS, the holiday at home for seniors, met again on 28, 29 and 30 July. About 50 people came this year and it was great fun. We had feature talks and quizzes, and each day ended with a tasty lunch. Activities included solving mysteries a la Sherlock Holmes, singing, painting, craft making (some fine wooden boxes), poetry, meditating, chairobics, enjoying the Sayers’ model railway in their back garden – and a highlight: baking scones in the Wellhouse Meadow Bakery. This Friday 3 July from 5.30 pm to 7.00 pm the Annual Strawberry Fayre will take place at Haslingfield Methodist Church. As well as a buffet and barbecue, there will be stalls selling cakes, plants, produce and good quality used books. A representative from Guide Dogs for the Blind will be there with a puppy in training and she will have lots of small items to buy and a “Guess the name of the Guide Dog”. The proceeds will go to Guide Dogs for the Blind, Little Owls Preschool and the Methodist Church.
