This summer, Cambridge Open Studios<\/strong> will take place on the first four weekends of July. Haslingfield has one artist exhibiting this year \u2013 Terry Baker. Her studio and garden will be open from 11.00 a.m. until 6.00 p.m. on the weekends 16\/17 July and 23\/24 July. She will be showing many of the mosaic pieces she has made over the past 12 years, including the table-top map of Haslingfield that you can see on the masthead of this website.<\/p>\n

She would be happy to see any Haslingfield folk, or those from further afield, who would like to find out a little more about her take on the ancient craft of mosaic.<\/p>\n

The distinctive yellow flag will indicate an Open Studios<\/strong> venue – Terry Baker\u2019s flag will be at the bottom of the Knapp, Haslingfield. Visitors are asked to walk up from the main road, as there is nowhere to park in the Knapp itself. There are also several other artists taking part locally \u2013 in Barrington, Orwell, Little Eversden, \u00a0Harlton & Harston.<\/p>\n

Cambridge Open Studios, an entirely self-funded collective of artists and crafts-people, was founded in the late 1960s. Over the years since then, this group has grown to almost 300 participants, who open up their studio space to the public during the weekends in July.<\/em><\/p>\n

The idea is to allow the public to see how original works of art and craft are made; to give them the chance to purchase or commission pieces directly from the maker; and to allow the artists to meet and share their passions with interested visitors.<\/em><\/p>\n
