on the web site.<\/p>\n<h5>Contacts<\/h5>\n<p>Jill Keane, Secretary \u00a0\u00a0<a title=\"blocked::mailto:jill.keane@gmail.com\" href=\"mailto:jill.keane@gmail.com\" target=\"_blank\">jill.keane@gmail.com<\/a><a href=\"mailto:johnpenny@fsmail.net\"><br \/>\n<\/a>Jennifer Staples, Outings\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:staples543@btinternet.com\">staples543@btinternet.com<br \/>\n<\/a>John Beresford, Archivist\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:jf.beresford@ntlworld.com\">jf.beresford@ntlworld.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5>\u00a0The Bakehouse<\/h5>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/haslingfieldvillage.co.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/IMG_1555.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-372087\" src=\"http:\/\/haslingfieldvillage.co.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/IMG_1555.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1555\" width=\"306\" height=\"229\" \/><\/a>In 2006 Howard Stringer organised a rescue project to relocate two historic building from the site of Quarry Farm (which had been demolished in the 1960\u2019s) to a permanent home on the Well House Meadow. \u00a0The <strong>Bakehouse<\/strong> and <strong>Privy <\/strong>were originally farm outbuildings dating from the early 19th century. \u00a0They were taken down and re-erected using the original materials as far as possible, including\u00a0clay and straw \u2018bats\u2019 made by\u00a0volunteers\u00a0using a wet process that provided much\u00a0amusement\u00a0for the onlookers. \u00a0Volunteers carefully recorded the structure of the buildings during dismantling, to enable accurate re-assembly, and kept a photographic record of the project for the Village Archive.<\/p>\n<p>The building is now used as a heritage resource centre equipped with permanent display boards covering the history associated with the buildings and \u00a0contemporary\u00a0village life, all researched by local volunteers. \u00a0Extracts from the Village Archive are on display once a month during the summer and the old <strong>Well House<\/strong>, from which the meadow gets its name, is opened at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>The bakehouse \u00a0contains a bread oven, a fire place and a clothes washing boiler, all wood fired. \u00a0A group of\u00a0enthusiasts has mastered the art of firing the oven without smoking everyone out of the building, and bread making is organised on festive occasions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/haslingfieldvillage.co.uk\/wp\/?p=1126\"><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/a><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/haslingfieldvillage.co.uk\/wp\/?page_id=1954\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/strong><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/haslingfieldvillage.co.uk\/wp\/?page_id=1944\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Society aims to stimulate interest in and maintain the historic\u00a0character\u00a0of the\u00a0village\u00a0and to develop and improve its amenities and environment. \u00a0 A feeling of community is fostered by arranging informative open meetings, normally on the third\u00a0Tuesday\u00a0of each month at 8.00 p.m. in the Village Centre, on a wide range of subjects of local and general &hellip;
