The Village shop, on Fountain Lane, is open this Bank Holiday Monday, 29th August, from 8am until 4pm. The post office will be closed on this day. The shop sells newspapers and magazines, a wide range of groceries and confectionery, fresh milk, hot drinks, cold drinks, wines and spirits, greeting cards and stationery, plus ‘bits and pieces’ such as batteries, drawing pins, etc. Fresh bread and cakes are delivered daily from Newnham Bakery and a selection of Hovis ready cut loaves are also available. You can order any type of bakery item. A dry cleaning service from Penguin Cleaners collects and delivers on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Also stock fresh fruit and vegetables, and you can also order whatever fruit & veg you’d like.

The pub is also holding a Crib Drive on Thursday 8th September from 8pm. Just turn up on the night to take part. There has been a cribbage team playing from The Little Rose since the early 1960’s. The next Little Rose Pub Quiz will take place this Friday 2nd September. Teams of any number up to a maximum of six can take part, entry is £10 per team with all the entry fees given out as cash prizes. First Question asked at 8pm. Just turn up on the night or book in advance. The quiz takes place on the first Friday of every month. It’s great fun with a good number of all local teams taking part each month. There’s 6 rounds including a picture round and it finishes around 10pm with a break halfway through.

There is free live music this Bank Holiday Saturday 27th August at the Little Rose Pub. Jonny will be singing a range of classic covers from 8pm until late. It’s a great way to enjoy the holiday weekend.

The pub sells a wide range of drinks including real ales, real cider, teas, coffees, lager, spirits and soft drinks. The pub won the Campaign for Real Ale Cambridge and District Branch award for Rural Community Pub of the Year last year. Read more

The Ryle Radio Telescopes have been Updated from the 5 Kilometer array to the Arcminute Microkelvin Imager in its present configuration.

Entry is free and there’ll also be special Caribbean Music and a prize of a bottle of Vodka for the person who turns up in the best Caribbean outfit. The evening starts at 8pm.

Pop Up Shop Tuesday 14th June

The next Pop-Up Coffee Shop at the Methodist Church is Tuesday 14th June 8:45 – 11:30am in aid of Ovarian Cancer.  In April the shop raised £150 for the Alzheimer’s Society.  Come along for fairtrade tea, coffee, cakes and pastries.  Why not pop-in for breakfast after the school run?
