This year’s village Carol Singing will end up in the Little Rose Pub from 8pm on Friday 16th December. All the money raised will go towards Action For Children. The carol singing will start off at 6.30pm in the Community Room of Wisbey’s Yard (which is just off the High Street) and the singers will then wander around the village, carol singing as they go, ending up in the Little Rose pub where they’ll be free mince pies for anyone who joins in. Either just join the group as the go around the village or meet them in the pub from 8pm..

Tonight, Saturday 10th December, sees a Charity Fund Raising Race Night at the Little Rose Pub. First race is at 8pm. Bets only 50p and no knowledge necessary as it’s all complete luck. All money raised goes to Haslingfield Play Group the Little Owls. It features video horse racing but may also include different kinds of racing! This is one of many events taking place throughout December in the village’s last pub. More details to the side.

The special Christmas Little Rose Pub Quiz will take place this Friday 2nd December from 8pm. Teams of any number up to a maximum of six can take part, entry is £10 per team with all the entry fees given out as cash prizes. First Question asked at 8pm. Just turn up on the night or book in advance. The quiz takes place on the first Friday of every month. It’s great fun with a good number of all local teams taking part each month. There’s 6 rounds covering many topics including special rounds on the festive season as well as a picture round. The quiz finishes around 10pm with a break halfway through where special Christmas treats will be served!

Ranging from the traditional Turkey with all the trimmings to Vegetarian and Gluten Free options, every taste is catered for. There is free live music this Saturday 19th November at the Little Rose Pub. Village resident, Tiffany, will be performing songs from a wide era from 8pm at the village’s last remaining pub. The pub has just announced a full programme of events taking place throughout the whole of December to mark the festive season.

Free fireworks for all the family and a free hotdog for all children  this Friday 4th November as the village’s last pub celebrates Guy Fawkes night. Fun starts at 6.30pm so just turn up to enjoy the celebration. If you fancy, you can stay on to take part in the Pub Quiz that starts at 8pm.

The Village shop, on Fountain Lane, is open this Bank Holiday Monday, 29th August, from 8am until 4pm. The post office will be closed on this day. The shop sells newspapers and magazines, a wide range of groceries and confectionery, fresh milk, hot drinks, cold drinks, wines and spirits, greeting cards and stationery, plus ‘bits and pieces’ such as batteries, drawing pins, etc. Fresh bread and cakes are delivered daily from Newnham Bakery and a selection of Hovis ready cut loaves are also available. You can order any type of bakery item. A dry cleaning service from Penguin Cleaners collects and delivers on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Also stock fresh fruit and vegetables, and you can also order whatever fruit & veg you’d like.

New players are wanted for a second crib team at the Little Rose Pub. Just get in touch by email: keith@murraysouthwell.plus.com or pop in. The pub is also holding a Crib Drive on Thursday 8th September from 8pm. Just turn up on the night to take part. There has been a cribbage team playing from The Little Rose since the early 1960’s. There is free live music this Bank Holiday Saturday 27th August at the Little Rose Pub. Jonny will be singing a range of classic covers from 8pm until late. It’s a great way to enjoy the holiday weekend.

The pub sells a wide range of drinks including real ales, real cider, teas, coffees, lager, spirits and soft drinks. The pub won the Campaign for Real Ale Cambridge and District Branch award for Rural Community Pub of the Year last year. Read more
