It’s hard to believe that at the beginning of April we will have been up and running for a year. Country Kitchen has flourished in a very short space of time. The Cambridge Food Tour visited us recently and we are featured in the April Edition of the Cambridge Magazine so please read all about us. A huge Thank You for all your support over the last year.

Christmas seems to have passed by with the blink of an eye. At Country Kitchen we had a very, very busy festive period taking turkey orders, selling our unique hampers that were stuffed full of exciting goodies, homemade Christmas puddings flew off the shelf, weird and wonderful cheeses filled the deli counter and even our famous sausage rolls had a festive twist! So thank you all for your custom over the Christmas period. Read more

With a shock today Country Kitchen realised that the ‘use by’ date on milk was in December. That definitely means Christmas can’t be far away! Which, of course, brings us to the big ‘T’… Turkey… If you’ve bought your turkey from Knibbs in the past, you’ll have had a ‘Black Barn turkey’, based in Meldreth. This is also the same supplier we’ve been using for turkey escalopes. We’re now taking turkey orders for Black Barn turkeys ranging from 3 – 9 kgs – both barn reared hens (£6.50 / kg) and Bronze free range turkeys (£10.50/kg). Other turkey options such as crowns, saddles, butterfly breasts and turkey rolls are available as well (and prices are the same as Waitrose). Read more
From this Sunday, Country Kitchen are going to open from 10:30 until 14:00. This could work quite well because the other shop is open early and closes early as well, so this should cover a few more hours on a Sunday between both shops. Keep an eye out for the xmas display area coming (too?) soon!
Why didn’t the skeleton cross the road?
He didn’t have the guts!
What do skeletons say before they begin dining?
What do ghosts serve for dessert?
Haslingfield Choir & Orchestra have announced details of their next performance on Saturday December 7th.
The concert will feature G.F. Handel’s Messiah.
There has been a break-in at the Haslingfield Village Hall during the night from 5th October – 6th October. 2 windows have been damaged and intruder(s) gained access by removing one of the windows overlooking the recreation ground. Apart from the damage to the windows it does not appear that anything has been stolen or damaged. If anyone has any information regarding this incident then please contact Janet Hendy or Ron van der Hoorn with details. Read more
Country Kitchen has now been trading for six months and we’re still honing our product lines and growing our customer base. But one thing we do know for sure is that our best seller by a million miles are our sausage rolls, which we make on-site, followed closely by pies and then our quiches and other food cooked on-site. Have you got masses of apples and at a loss as to what to do with them? Bring them along to Country Kitchen on Saturday the 5th October from 10h00 – 13h00. We’ll pulp them and press them (you and the kids can join in too!), and all you have to do is collect lovely, fresh apple juice to take home and enjoy. Please remember to bring your own containers in which to collect the juice!
This demonstrates a certain degree of commitment to maintaining the service and who knows it might even improve!
